The Accounting Policy Officer will be primarily responsible for drafting updates to the Bank’s existing accounting policies, as well as monitoring any emerging accounting developments and interpret their impact to the Bank. This individual will also prepare accounting memos and documentation regarding significant accounting policy developments. In addition, the Accounting Policy Officer will provide technical accounting support to the Bank’s senior management and business lines by interpreting accounting guidance related to the Company's business and transactions.

  • Implement, maintain, and provide necessary updates to the company’s accounting policies in accordance with GAAP, IFRS and US Regulatory requirements

  • Research, monitor and implement emerging US GAAP and IFRS accounting developments (as well as regulatory guidance) by working with stake holders such as senior management and the affected lines of businesses

  • Communicate the impact of accounting policies on the company’s operations, financial and regulatory reporting, etc to senior management, lines of businesses, etc

  • Assist the financial reporting teams by reviewing financial information and disclosures, to ensure compliance with US GAAP, SEC reporting rules and regulations, and bank regulatory guidance

  • Prepare various accounting memos documenting the company’s approach to compliance with the accounting policies for areas of critical accounting estimates, such as fair value, impairment, hedge accounting, etc

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects

  • 5+ years of applicable Accounting experience

  • Experience working with US GAAP and IFRS experience is highly desired

  • The ideal candidate will have Banking or financial services experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

  • A CPA is preferred

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills; particularly Excel including formula development, pivot tables, macro development, familiarity with text, look-up and reference, data and financial functions

  • Must be a smart and adaptable self-starter

  • Strong project management experience is preferred

  • Must have polished communication and organization skills

  • Excellent analytical skills; detail oriented

  • Strong understanding of financial controls and system validation (reconcilement) methods
