Responsible for managing Fair Lending unit and supervising the risk analysis of operational governance and regulatory data to identify potential regulatory violation patterns or trends or overt indicators of discrimination. Provides detailed analysis of fair lending/compliance issues as they relate to each business unit. Provides recommendations and information and advice to Bank management regarding Fair Lending and compliance risks. Also manages Santander affiliate analytics/contract/billing, fair lending exam coordination, oversight of fair lending complaints, managing software needs and vendor relationships, handling technology issues to resolution and leading various special projects relating to fair lending laws. Serves as subject matter expert on the technical and substantive provisions of Regulation B, Regulation C, and the Fair Housing Act and supports the CRA Corporate Officer on an as needed basis.


  • Constructs informative reports/presentations summarizing high level issues for various levels of management and process owners with the purpose of negotiating appropriate reaction/change to mitigate risks.

  • Manages staff development to facilitate motivation, enthusiasm, commitment and technical /regulatory development to ensure delivery of timely quality analytical results.

  • Manages the cyclical and targeted fair lending regulatory exams to ensure that the framework minimizes risk to the Bank. Develops appropriate responses and implements changes to exam recommendations.

  • Manages technology to determine strategic and operational needs pertaining to fair lending for the Bank and affiliates. Develops strategic plan to ensure alignment with cost containment objectives.

  • Develops/directs fair lending analytics to achieve appropriate levels of oversight consistent with risk management and regulatory objectives. Implements new approaches to respond to developing regulatory focuses/political agendas/business strategies.



  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent;

  • 10+ years’ experience; demonstrated expertise in Fair Lending; experience with Fair Lending software/specialty programs.

  • Ability to develop and implement creative strategies to strengthen regulatory controls.

  • Excellent analytical and project management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills.

  • Outstanding leadership and management skills.

  • Working knowledge of banking operations, policies, and procedures in addition to banking products/services.

  • Working knowledge of federal banking compliance regulations.
