Financial Reporting Manager - 1801885



Manages the efforts of financial reporting team members and coordinates the timely completion of various regulatory financial reports in accordance with specific guidelines and timeframes as established by the relevant regulatory authorities. Prepares and reviews work papers and related procedures to ensure accurate and compliant reports are completed. Brings inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management. Research, interpret, and apply regulatory guidance to the institution’s compliance requirements, with emphasis on U.S regulatory capital rules and Basel III.

  • Prepare, maintain, and review regulatory reports and ensure compliance with the policies and procedures governing responsibilities in external financial reporting

  • Review items escalated by the department on data certifications, dataquality and analytics

  • Analyze, review and approve regulatory reports and submit to the regulatory and other governmental reporting agencies in a complete, accurate and timely manner

  • Review variance analyses performed by the supporting Business Units and the department for reasonableness

  • Follow up with the staff for items requiring investigation and revision

  • Assign and monitor the workload of the department with collaboration with the management team

  • Coach and develop staff on the preparation and review of regulatory reports and supporting in accordance with regulatory requirements and instructions

  • Coordinate and review the data delivered by supporting business units and subsidiaries through multiple applications

  • Evaluate interpretations of regulatory reporting requirements with the Regulatory Financial Reporting Department Director and Managers, Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) and other decision makers

  • Stay abreast of and understand applicable regulatory reporting laws, instructions and requirements, and communicate to staff and Business Units accordingly and determine impact assessment and implementation process

  • Assist in evaluating the impact of certain business decisions including accounting system modifications, key transactions and new product initiatives as related to regulatory reporting

  • Contribute to corporate initiatives, data management and risk assessments and regulatory instructions and requirement changes

  • Contribute and coordinate initiatives to improve and maintain the regulatory financial reporting process

  • Notify and coordinate with supporting Business Units and other areas of Corporate Accounting to incorporate new GL accounts, products, systems and other changes that impact regulatory financial reporting

  • Ensure data mapping between the GL, legacy systems and the regulatory financial reporting software is complete, accurate, and consistent with accounting guidance

  • Accounting degree, MBA a plus

  • CPA highly desired

  • 10+ years bank accounting or financial reporting experience

  • Regional Bank, large Community Bank or experience via a public accounting firm

  • Prior supervisory experience is required

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Excellent MS access and excel skills

  • Well-developed understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory accounting rules
